Presentation of Jesus at the Temple
The Presentation of Jesus at the Temple - Window located in the Lady Chapel. This particular scene refers to the occasion when Mary and Joseph went to the Temple in Jerusalem, for the purification of Mary and the presentation of Jesus, in accordance with Jewish law. The scene includes a pair of turtle doves which was the prescribed sacrifice.
The figures shown are Left Panel - Mary and Joseph : Centre Panel - The baby Jesus held by Simeon who prophesied that Jesus was destined for the fall and rise of many in Israel. : Right Panel - Also present was a prophetess called Anna who looked forward to the deliverance of Jerusalem.
